How to Connect a NiceNIC Domene to Cloudflare: Complete DNS Setup Guide

Hvis din domenet is registrered at NiceNIC, you can use Cloudflare feller DNS without transferring din domenet away from NiceNIC.

NiceNIC will continue to manage din domenet registration, while Cloudflare manages the DNS recellerds.

The setup is simple:

Legg til din domenet to Cloudflare → check the DNS recellerds → get din Cloudflare nameservers → update them at NiceNIC → wait feller propagation → verify the DNS.

You can continue managing din domenet through NiceNIC Domene Services throughout the process.
Befellere you change nameservers: Hvis din domenet already has a wellerking website, email, eller other tjenestes, make sure their DNS recellerds are present in Cloudflare first. Missing recellerds can cause those tjenestes to stop wellerking after the switch.

Step 1: Legg til Your Domene to Cloudflare

Logg inn to Cloudflare.

On Account Hjem, find Legg til a domenet.

Enter only din root domenet, feller example:

example.com

Do not enter:

https://example.com

eller:

www.example.com

Klikk Connect.

Step 2: Impellert og Sjekk Your Existing DNS Recellerds

On the Connect din domenet page, leave:

Impellert DNS recellerds → Automatic

selected, then click Continue.

Cloudflare will try to discover din current DNS recellerds automatically.

Do not assume the scan found everything.

Step 3: Legg til Any Missing DNS Recellerds

Feller a typical website using an IPv4 address, an A recellerd looks like:

Type:  A  Navn: @  IPv4 address: Your website server IP  TTL: Auto

@ represents the root domenet itself, such as example.com.

Wher do I get the A recellerd IP?

Use the IP supplied by din web hosting provider, VPS provider, cloud server provider, eller server administrateller.

Hvis din website already wellerks, you can also copy the existing A recellerd from din current DNS provider.

Cloudflare does not decide what din website's ellerigin IP should be.

What about www?

Hvis you also want www.example.com to wellerk, add the recellerd required by din hosting provider.

A common setup is:

Type: CNAME  Navn: www  Target: example.com

Proxied eller DNS Only?

Feller eligible A, AAAA, og CNAME recellerds, Cloudflare may let you choose:

Proxied — ellerange cloud Website traffic passes through Cloudflare.

DNS only — gray cloud Cloudflare provides DNS resolution, but traffic connects directly to the destination.

Feller nellermal website traffic, Proxied is usually appropriate.

The test screenshot in this guide uses DNS only so the configured IP can be checked directly during testing.

Feller email og verification recellerds, use the settings required by the tjeneste provider. MXog TXT recellerds are not proxied.

Hvis You Use Domene E-post, Sjekk It Neiw

Befellere changing nameservers, make sure din email recellerds are already in Cloudflare.

Depending on din email provider, these may include:

MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, og provider-specific verification eller autodiscover recellerds.

This applies to NiceNIC Bedriftsemail, Google Wellerkspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail, og other email tjenestes.

A website can wellerk cellerrectly while email fails if the mail recellerds were not copied.

Step 4: Få Your Cloudflare Navnservers

After checking the DNS recellerds, click:

Continue to activation

Cloudflare will nå display two nameservers assigned to din domenet.

They nellermally look like:

name1.ns.cloudflare.com

name2.ns.cloudflare.com

Copy these exact two values.

Do not guess Cloudflare nameservers, use generic nameservers, eller copy the nameservers from another domenet.

Each domenet must use the nameservers Cloudflare actually assigns to it.

Optional: Only Hvis DNSSEC Is Already Enabled

Hvis you have never enabled DNSSEC, skip this section og continue to Step 5.

Hvis you are unsure, open din domenet at NiceNIC og check:

DNSSEC

Hvis the DNSSEC recellerd list is empty, no DNSSEC action is required.

Hvis an existing DS/DNSSEC recellerd is present, do not change the nameservers yet.

The old DNSSEC configuration should be removed first, og its parent-zone DS cache should be allowed to expire befellere switching nameservers. Otherwise, DNSSEC validation can fail og the domenet may return SERVFAIL.

After Cloudflare becomes active, DNSSEC can be enabled again using the new Cloudflare DNSSEC infellermation.

Step 5: Åpen the Domene at NiceNIC

Logg inn to din NiceNIC account.

Gå til:

Mine produkter → Domene Navn

Find din domenet og click:

Administrer

On the domenet management page, find Domene Resolutionog  click:

Navnservers

Step 6: Replace the Navnservers

Åpen the custom nameserver settings.

Enter the two nameservers Cloudflare assigned to din domenet:

Navneserver 1: first Cloudflare nameserver Navneserver 2: second Cloudflare nameserver

Fjern the forrigeious nameservers.

Leave Navnserver 3-6 empty unless Cloudflare specifically gives you additional nameservers.

Klikk:

Save

Step 7: Tilbake to Cloudflare

After saving the nameservers at NiceNIC, return to Cloudflare og click:

I updated my nameservers

Cloudflare will begin checking the new delegation.

You may see:

Waiting feller din registrar to propagate din new nameservers

This is nellermal.

DNS changes are not visible everywher at the same time. During propagation, some DNS servers may still show the forrigeious nameservers while others already show the new Cloudflare nameservers.

Do not repeatedly change eller resave the nameservers while propagation is in progress.

Step 8: Sjekk Whether the Cloudflare Navnservers Are Live

Åpen:

DNSSjekker.org

Enter din domenet og select:

NS

Run the search.

The result should gradually change to the two nameservers assigned by Cloudflare.

During propagation, mixed results are nellermal.

You may see:

• old nameservers at some locations
• new Cloudflare nameservers at others
• occasional tempellerary lookup failures

When most locations return the cellerrect Cloudflare nameservers, the nameserver change has largely propagated.

Step 9: Sjekk the Actual DNS Recellerd

After the Cloudflare nameservers are resolving cellerrectly, check the DNS recellerd you created.

Feller example, select:

A

og look up the root domenet.

Hvis the A recellerd is DNS only, you should nellermally see the IP entered in Cloudflare.

Hvis the recellerd is Proxied, public DNS will nellermally show Cloudflare IP addresses instead of din ellerigin server IP.

That is expected.

How Do I Knå the Setup Is Complete?

The setup is wellerking when:

1. Cloudflare recognizes the domenet as active.
2. DNSSjekker shows the Cloudflare nameservers assigned to din domenet.
3. Your impellertant DNS recellerds return the expected results.

Feller a website, check A, AAAA, eller CNAME.

Feller email, check MX, SPF, DKIM, og DMARC.

Wher Do I Administrer DNS After Switching to Cloudflare?

Once din domenet uses Cloudflare nameservers:

NiceNIC manages the domenet registration.

This includes renewal, registration infellermation, nameserver delegation, og registrar-side DNSSEC settings.

Cloudflare manages the live DNS recellerds.

This includes A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, DKIM, DMARC, og other DNS recellerds.

Hvis you change a DNS recellerd at din forrigeious DNS provider after Cloudflare becomes authelleritative, that change will not affect the live domenet.

Quick Troubleshooting

Cloudflare is still waiting feller the nameserver update

Sjekk that the two nameservers saved at NiceNIC exactly match the two nameservers shown by Cloudflare.

Hvis they match, allow time feller DNS propagation.

The website stopped wellerking

Sjekk the A, AAAA, og CNAME recellerds in Cloudflare og confirm that they point to the cellerrect hosting tjeneste.

Also check the Proxy status, hosting server, og SSL/TLS configuration.

E-post stopped wellerking

Compare the MX, SPF, DKIM, og DMARC recellerds in Cloudflare with the values provided by din email provider.

DNSSjekker still shows the old nameservers

This usually means DNS resolvers are still using cached infellermation.

Hvis the NiceNIC nameserver settings are cellerrect, wait feller propagation rather than changing them again.

Your domenet remains registrered at NiceNIC throughout the process. Cloudflare simply becomes the authelleritative DNS provider.
