What Is Web Forwarding?

Web forwarding redirects visitors from one domain or hostname to another URL. It does not copy the destination website and does not replace DNS or email configuration.

Set Up Forwarding

  1. Choose the source domain or hostname.
  2. Enter the complete destination URL, including https:// when appropriate.
  3. Select a temporary or permanent redirect according to the intended use.
  4. Save the forwarding rule.
  5. Test the source URL in a clean browser session.

Common Limitations

  • HTTPS on the source may require a valid certificate.
  • Path and query-string handling depends on the forwarding service.
  • Email is not forwarded by a web redirect.
  • Masked or framed forwarding can create usability and SEO problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know the change worked?

Check the current status in your NiceNIC account, then test the service that depends on web forwarding. Do not rely only on the absence of an error message.

When should I contact NiceNIC Support?
