Why Can't I Modify My Domain During Pending Transfer?

Some domain settings are restricted while a transfer is pending to protect ownership and keep the transfer data consistent.

What to Do

  1. Check which transfer is pending and its current status.
  2. Avoid contact, ownership and lock changes unless NiceNIC instructs otherwise.
  3. Keep existing nameservers and DNS service active.
  4. Complete or cancel the transfer before making non-urgent changes.
  5. If an urgent DNS change is required, submit a ticket with the domain and impact.

Do Not Restart Blindly

A duplicate transfer request can create additional delay or billing confusion. Resolve or cancel the existing request first.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know the change worked?

Check the current status in your NiceNIC account, then test the service that depends on the pending transfer. Do not rely only on the absence of an error message.

When should I contact NiceNIC Support?

Submit a ticket when the required control is unavailable, the status remains pending after the checks in this guide, or the issue depends on an account-specific order or registry decision.
