What Happens If My Cloud Server or Dedicated Server Expires?
After a NiceNIC cloud or dedicated server expires, the service can be suspended immediately. NiceNIC currently provides a grace period of up to 7 days for renewal; if renewal is not completed in that period, the server may be terminated and its data permanently deleted.
Before Expiry
- Check the service expiry date.
- Back up websites, databases, configuration and credentials outside the server.
- Confirm the renewal price and account balance.
- Renew the correct server order.
- Verify the new expiry date.
During the Grace Period
Renew as soon as possible. Access may remain suspended until renewal is processed, but a server that is still within the grace period may be recoverable through renewal.
- The grace period is up to 7 days, not a guaranteed period of uninterrupted service.
- Keep the server order number and IP address available if Support assistance is required.
After Termination
If the server was not renewed within the grace period, NiceNIC may terminate it and the data center may delete all associated files. Deleted data cannot be recovered. A new server order does not restore the former server's data.
After Renewal
Confirm the server is running, test authorized network access and applications, and verify that DNS still points to the intended IP.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I recover data after the 7-day grace period?
No recovery should be expected after termination and deletion. Restore from an external backup or place a new server order.
Does the server remain online during the grace period?
Not necessarily. NiceNIC may suspend access after expiry even while renewal remains available.
