Quick Answer
.EU registrations may have eligibility, contact, document or local-presence requirements. Review the current requirements in this guide before ordering, and make sure the registrant data exactly matches any supporting documents.
Before You Begin
- Use legal names and addresses that match the supporting documents.
- Confirm the registrant meets the extension's eligibility rules.
- Keep an accessible email address for registry or NiceNIC verification.
NiceNIC Instructions
According to the .EU registry policy, the following persons are eligible to register .EU domain names: A Union citizen, independently of their place of residence A natural person who is not a Union citizen and who is a resident of a Member State An undertaking that is established in the Union An organization that is established in the Union, without prejudice to the application of national law Please note that the registration data will be verified, and EURid (the registry operator of.AU domains) will perform security checks on the domain name registration before or after the delegation of the domain name.
The data checked includes the holder's name, address, email, and phone number to make sure the domain names have correct data and are not used for abusive purposes. The registry sends an email to the domain owners in case some registrant data is to be verified. If there is no response to their emails (and several reminders, including sometimes personal calls) from the registrant within the specified deadline (up to 14 days) the domain name gets suspended and can be reactivated once the domain name holder confirms the correctness of their data via the My.EU Paltform.
More information about the EURid validation process can be found here. Additionally, you can find more details about.EU domain requirements at the .EU registry site.
How to Verify
Confirm that the order is active rather than pending document review. Check the registry status and make sure the saved registrant data matches the approved information.
Troubleshooting
- The registrant selected the wrong eligibility category.
- The name, organization or address differs between the order and document.
- A document is expired, unclear, incomplete or unsupported.
- A local-presence, intended-use or nexus rule has not been satisfied.
