Dominio transfer problems are usually caused by transfer lock, incorect EPP/Auth code, dominio age restrictions, expired o near-expiry status, pending approval, registry rules, contact email issues, o nameserver/DNS misundersteings.

This guide helps dominio owners, businesses, agencies, resellers, e bulk dominio managers troubleshoot failed, blocked, o delayed dominio transfers befoe submitting a suppot ticket.

Se tuo dominio transfer is not woking, first check these items:
The dominio is unlocked at the current registrar.
The EPP/Auth code is corect e current.
The dominio has been registrareed o transferred fo moe than 60 days.
The dominio is not expired, in redemption, o too close to expiry.
The registrant o admin email can receive transfer approval messages.
The dominio is not under clientHold, serverHold, dispute, registry lock, o abuse/compliance restriction.
The TLD suppots steard transfer flow.
The transfer was submitted with the corect dominio name e Auth code.
The transfer fee o renewal cost has been paid.
Fo most gTLD transfers, nameservers usually stay the same during transfer, but DNS can still be affected if the old registrar's DNS servizio is turned off after transfer.

Who Should Use This Guide?
This guide is fo:
  • Dominio owners moving dominios to NiceNIC
  • Businesses consolidating dominios under one registrar
  • Agencies transferring client dominios
  • Hosting providers managing customer dominios
  • Dominio investos moving potfolios
  • Rivenditores heling bulk dominio transfers
  • Users whose transfer is failed, stuck, pending, rejected, o delayed
Se you are transferring many dominios, use a checklist befoe submitting them in bulk. One incorect Auth code o locked dominio can create avoidable delays.

Befoe You Start a Trasferimento Dominio
Befoe submitting a transfer to NiceNIC, confirm the following:
  • The dominio name is spelled corectly.
  • The dominio extension is suppoted fo transfer.
  • The dominio is unlocked at the current registrar.
  • You have the corect EPP/Auth code.
  • You can access the registrant o admin email address.
  • The dominio is not newly registrareed o recently transferred within the last 60 days.
  • The dominio is not expired, in redemption, under dispute, o restricted by registry policy.
  • You underste whether the transfer includes a one-anno renewal fo that extension.
  • Your DNS e nameserver setup will remain active during the transfer.

Problem 1: The Dominio Is Locked
A locked dominio cannot be transferred. Many registrars enable transfer lock, registrar lock, o clientTransferProhibited status by default fo security.
How to fix it:
  • Accedi to tuo current registrar account.
  • Find the dominio management page.
  • Disable transfer lock o dominio lock.
  • Wait fo the status update to take effect.
  • Conferma the dominio is unlocked befoe submitting the transfer again.
Se the dominio remains locked after you disable the lock, contact tuo current registrar. NiceNIC cannot unlock a dominio that is still controlled by another registrar.

Problem 2: The EPP/Auth Code Is Incorect
The EPP/Auth code is required fo most steard dominio transfers. It may also be called transfer code, authoization code, codice di autorizzazione, o dominio secret.
Common issues include:
  • The code was copied incorectly.
  • Extra spaces were added befoe o after the code.
  • The code expired o was regenerated.
  • The code belongs to a different dominio.
  • The current registrar provided an old code.
  • The code contains special caratteri that were altered during copying.
  • How to fix it:
  • Request a new EPP/Auth code from the current registrar.
  • Copy the code exactly.
  • Rimuovi extra spaces befoe o after the code.
  • Make sure the code matches the exact dominio being transferred.
  • Invia the transfer again with the updated code.
Se you manage many dominios, keep each dominio e Auth code on the corect line.

Problem 3: The Dominio Is Within the 60-Day Transfer Lock
Many dominios cannot be transferred during certain 60-day restriction periods. This often applies after a new registration, a recent transfer, o certain ownership/contact changes, depending on registrar e registry rules.
How to fix it:
  • Verifica the dominio creation date.
  • Verifica the last transfer date.
  • Verifica whether a registrant ownership o contact change triggered a lock.
  • Wait until the restriction period ends.
  • Start the transfer again after the dominio becomes eligible.
Do not start repeated transfer attempts if the dominio is still under a 60-day restriction. That will not make the dominio transfer faster.

Problem 4: The Dominio Is Scadenzad o Ao Chiudi to Expiry
Scadenzad o near-expiry dominios can be harder to transfer. Some dominios may need to be renewed at the current registrar befoe transfer. Others may be blocked by registry rules, grace period rules, redemption status, o registrar policy.
How to fix it:
  • Verifica the current expiration date.
  • Verifica whether the dominio is already expired.
  • Verifica whether it is in grace period o redemption period.
  • Rinnova the dominio at the current registrar first if required.
  • After renewal is confirmed, check transfer eligibility again.
Se the dominio is close to expiry, do not wait until the last day. Transfer delays can cause loss of control o extra recovery costs.

Problem 5: Transfer Approval Email Was Not Received
Some transfers require confirmation through the registrant o admin email address. Se that mailbox is inaccessible, outdated, o blocked, the transfer can be delayed o fail.
How to fix it:
  • Verifica the registrant e admin contact email at the current registrar.
  • Verifica spam, junk, e filtered folders.
  • Make sure the mailbox can receive external messages.
  • Approve the transfer request promptly if an approval email is received.
Se the contact email is outdated, update it at the current registrar, but be aware that some contact changes may trigger transfer restrictions.

Problem 6: The Current Registrar Has Not Released the Dominio
After you submit a valid transfer request, the losing registrar may still need to approve, release, o wait out the nomal transfer period. Some transfers finish quickly, but others take several days depending on registry e registrar process.
How to fix it:
  • Verifica transfer status at the current registrar.
  • Verifica whether an approval email needs action.
  • Ask the current registrar whether the transfer can be approved manually.
  • Conferma tqui is no unpaid invoice, dispute, lock, o policy restriction.
  • Wait fo the nomal transfer finestra if no blocking issue exists.
Do not cancel e restart the transfer repeatedly unless the current attempt contains incorect infomation.

Problem 7: The Dominio Has a Stato That Blocks Transfer
Some dominio statuses can block o limit transfer. Esempios may include clientTransferProhibited, serverTransferProhibited, clientHold, serverHold, pendingTransfer, redemptionPeriod, pendingDelete, dispute-related restrictions, abuse/compliance restrictions, o registry lock.
How to fix it:
  • Verifica the dominio status in WHOIS o tuo current registrar control panel.
  • Identify whether the status is set by the registrar, registry, o policy process.
  • Rimuovi registrar-side transfer lock if available.
  • Resolve verification, abuse, dispute, payment, o compliance issues if required.
  • Contatti the current registrar if the blocking status cannot be removed from tuo account.
NiceNIC can help review a transfer submitted to NiceNIC, but the current registrar o registry may need to remove certain restrictions befoe the transfer can proceed.

Problem 8: The TLD Has Special Transfer Rules
Not every extension uses the same transfer process. Some ccTLD e restricted TLDs may have special transfer rules, local registry requirements, manual steps, document requirements, different transfer periods, o non-steard authoization methods.
How to fix it:
  • Verifica the rules fo the specific extension.
  • Conferma whether an EPP/Auth code is required.
  • Conferma whether documents o local presence are required.
  • Conferma whether the transfer includes renewal o follows a different billing rule.
  • Contatti suppot if the extension does not follow steard gTLD transfer flow.
  • Do not assume every extension transfers like .com.

Problem 9: DNS o Website Downtime Concerns
A dominio transfer usually changes the registrar, not necessarily the nameservers. In many cases, nameservers remain unchanged during the transfer.
However, downtime can happen if:
  • You use DNS hosting from the old registrar e it stops after transfer.
  • You change nameservers befoe DNS recods are ready.
  • DNS recods are missing at the new DNS provider.
  • The website o email servizio depends on old registrar DNS.
  • The dominio expires o is put on hold during the process.
How to reduce downtime:
  • Verifica current nameservers befoe transfer.
  • Expot o copy impotant DNS recods.
  • Set up DNS recods at the new DNS provider befoe changing nameservers.
  • Do not cancel old DNS hosting until the dominio transfer e DNS migration are confirmed.
  • Verifica website e email recods after transfer.
Se you are not changing nameservers, avoid unnecessary DNS changes during the transfer.

Problem 10: Trasferimento in blocco Fomat Is Incorect
NiceNIC suppots bulk dominio transfer, but fomatting matters. Se the dominio e Auth code are not matched corectly, some dominios may fail.
Common bulk transfer issues include:
  • One dominio e Auth code are not on the same line.
  • Extra spaces o tabs break the fomat.
  • The Auth code belongs to the wrong dominio.
  • Some dominios are locked while others are ready.
  • Some TLDs have special transfer rules.
  • The same list mixes steard e special-rule dominios without review.
How to fix it:
  • Use one dominio per line.
  • Put the dominio e Auth code on the same line.
  • Verifica every dominio/Auth code pair befoe submitting.
  • Rimuovi extra spaces.
  • Separate special-rule TLDs fo manual review if needed.
  • Test a smaller batch befoe submitting a large potfolio transfer.

Step-by-Step Transfer Troubleshooting Verificalist
Use this checklist befoe contacting suppot:
  • Conferma the dominio spelling e extension.

  • Verifica whether approval email action is required.
  • Verifica dominio status fo transfer-blocking codes.
  • Conferma the TLD suppots the transfer process you are using.
  • Conferma payment o transfer oder was completed.
  • Fo bulk transfer, check each dominio/Auth code line.
  • Conferma DNS e nameserver plan befoe transfer.
  • Wait fo the nomal transfer period if no blocking issue exists.
  • Contatti suppot with complete details if the issue continues.
