What Is the NiceNIC Reseller Program and How Can It Benefit Your Business?

The NiceNIC Domain Reseller Program is designed for hosting companies, agencies, developers and businesses that buy or manage domains for customers. It combines reseller-level pricing with domain management tools, bulk operations and integration options.

What changes when you become a reseller?

A reseller level assigns pricing to eligible domain registrations, transfers and renewals. NiceNIC currently publishes Basic ($200), Super ($600) and VIP ($1,500) initial deposits, credited to your account balance rather than charged as a separate membership fee. Levels, product availability and prices should be checked on the live reseller page before payment.

The same balance is used for eligible purchases. Higher tiers may offer lower registrar costs, but profitability also depends on renewal prices, your retail margin, failed orders, support costs and payment processing.

You do not need a reseller tier just to use API

NiceNIC Domain API v2 is available to Market Accounts and Reseller Accounts. A Market Account receives Market pricing; an upgraded Reseller Account receives the applicable reseller pricing. This distinction matters if you are testing integration before committing to an upgrade.

Choose your way of working

Workflow
Best for
Control panel
Occasional purchases and exceptions
Bulk tools
Many domains or scheduled portfolio work
Custom storefronts, internal systems and SaaS
WHMCS module
Hosting billing and domain automation

API access does not remove the need for customer consent, correct contact details, account balance and registry eligibility checks. Some ccTLDs require documents or manual review, even when submitted through an automated system.

A low-risk way to start

Create or sign in to a NiceNIC account, compare live registration and renewal prices for your target TLDs, test a read-only API availability request or a single control-panel registration, and decide whether a reseller deposit would improve your economics. Read the API documentation before enabling chargeable automation.

Calculate whether a reseller tier actually pays off

A lower reseller rate is useful only if it exceeds the opportunity cost of the deposit and the work needed to serve customers. Make a short per-TLD calculation before upgrading:

Cost factor
Example calculation
Registrar registration price
Your actual tier price for .COM
Registrar renewal price
Your actual tier price in year two
Customer selling price
The amount your store displays
Gross margin
Customer price minus your purchase price, before other costs
Non-domain costs
Payment fees, refunds/chargebacks, support time, taxes and platform hosting

Illustrative math (not NiceNIC prices): If a hosting company sells a domain at $18 but its registrar cost is $13, the $5 gross margin does not yet account for credit-card fees, onboarding support or payment failures. A discount on renewal might matter more than a one-time discount on first registration.

Choosing an account setup

An agency serving ten clients may start with the manual panel or API on a Market Account. A hosting company issuing hundreds of renewals may benefit from reseller pricing and WHMCS automation. In both cases, keep the legal registrant clearly identified, set transparent renewal prices and obtain customer authorization before transfers or contact changes.

Reseller deposit ≠ payment for API access. This distinction prevents existing reseller customers from misunderstanding the value of their tier: they pay or fund for pricing and business terms, not for the mere ability to make an API call.
