.COM.AU and .NET.AU Registration Requirements
A .COM.AU or .NET.AU registration requires an Australian eligibility basis. Before ordering through NiceNIC, identify which Australian business identifier or trade mark you will use.
Registering with an Australian business number
You can use one of the following:
- ABN — Australian Business Number
- ACN — Australian Company Number
- ARBN — Australian Registered Body Number
Have the registrant or business name and the corresponding ABN, ACN or ARBN ready. Use the identifier that belongs to the business named in the application.
Registering with an Australian trade mark
If your eligibility is based on an Australian trade mark, prepare:
- Trade mark status: Registered or Pending Application
- Australian Trade Mark Number
- Trade Mark Name / Words
Important: When the Australian trade mark is being used to establish Australian presence, the domain name must exactly match the words in the trade mark. Check the spelling of your proposed name before placing an order.
Next step
Check your preferred .COM.AU or .NET.AU domain, then complete the registration with the correct eligibility details. If the proposed name does not match a trade mark used as the eligibility basis, choose a matching name or use another eligible basis.
Who Can Register a .ORG.AU Domain?
.ORG.AU is intended for eligible not-for-profit organizations. An individual or an organization that cannot establish the relevant not-for-profit status should not use the ordinary .ORG.AU registration route.
Accepted organization categories
Prepare the evidence corresponding to your organization type:
Your organization category and its supporting registration information should agree.
What about an unincorporated association?
An unincorporated association is not treated as a separate, automatically eligible category in NiceNIC's .ORG.AU registration process.
If it is an ACNC-registered charity, use the charity category and the corresponding registration details. Otherwise, contact NiceNIC support to confirm eligibility before proceeding.
Before ordering
Check your preferred .ORG.AU domain and make sure the registrant is an eligible not-for-profit organization with the appropriate registration or reference information.
