One last meal by the sea offered a moment to reflect on a busy week in Bali. For NiceNIC founder May and CEO Helen, ICANN87 brought valuable conversations, familiar faces, new connections, and ideas to take forward long after the conference ended.

The ICANN87 Annual General Meeting took place at the Bali International Convention Centre in Indonesia from October 17 to 22, 2026. During the gathering, NiceNIC connected with registry teams, domain industry companies, security specialists, and brand protection organizations.

Across those conversations, our priorities remained practical: more domain choices, better purchasing conditions, stronger reseller support, and responsible domain management. Each connects to a decision our customers make, whether they are choosing their first business domain or managing a growing portfolio for clients.

Customers exploring their next project can already use NiceNIC Domain Search to check available names and compare options. The work following ICANN87 is about continuing to improve the choices and support behind those decisions.

Connecting Across the Global Domain Industry

NiceNIC appreciated the opportunity to meet teams representing different parts of the domain market, including Google Registry, GoDaddy Registry and Afternic, CentralNic Registry, Public Interest Registry (PIR), Radix, and Internet Naming Co.

These connections bring together perspectives on established extensions, upcoming domain opportunities, registry operations, and the wider domain marketplace. For NiceNIC, understanding those perspectives helps inform how we develop our product offering and respond to customer demand.

The week also included exchanges with .ID Registry (PANDI), .ART Registry, and .PT Registry. Country and specialist extensions serve different audiences, from businesses entering a local market to artists building a recognizable online identity.

That variety matters. A company expanding into Indonesia may have different naming priorities from a creative studio, a nonprofit organization, or a business targeting Portugal. A useful domain service needs to help customers understand those differences and find options that fit their actual plans.

Our ICANN87 discussion with PIR illustrates this approach. Continued cooperation around .ORG connects registry relationships with everyday concerns such as registration costs, renewal planning, product choice, and reseller support.

We thank every team for the time, experience, and ideas they shared in Bali.

Turning Industry Conversations Into Customer Value

For customers and resellers, the value of industry engagement becomes clearer when it leads to useful information, workable services, and well-supported decisions.

A new extension may create a relevant branding opportunity. A registry promotion may improve the economics of a launch. Better coordination may help resolve a registration question or clarify a requirement before an order is placed.

These are the areas NiceNIC intends to keep pursuing after ICANN87:

Priority
Focus for continued discussions
Why it matters to customers and resellers
More domain choices
Follow relevant extensions, launch plans, and product availability
Find names suited to different industries, audiences, and markets
More competitive pricing
Explore registration, renewal, and volume-based opportunities
Evaluate the cost of starting and maintaining a domain portfolio
Stronger reseller support
Improve product information, operational coordination, and access to support
Help partners serve clients with clearer expectations
Responsible domain management
Strengthen reporting quality, evidence review, and communication
Address verified threats while reducing avoidable disruption to legitimate users

Specific offers and services will depend on confirmed arrangements, registry requirements, and published terms. Customers can review the NiceNIC Domain Price List for current registration, renewal, and transfer pricing.

A first-year price is only one part of the decision. Renewal costs, eligibility requirements, and the support needed to manage a name over time also deserve attention. Those considerations will continue to guide NiceNIC’s discussions with industry partners.

Supporting Resellers Beyond the First Registration

Resellers need products they can explain clearly and services they can manage consistently. A hosting provider adding domains to its packages, for example, needs to consider provisioning, renewals, customer information, and support alongside the initial purchase price.

NiceNIC's catalog spans 2,500+ domain extensions. Partners can review the NiceNIC Reseller Program to compare account options and current pricing arrangements against their business requirements.

Automation is another practical part of that assessment. The NiceNIC Domain API and WHMCS registrar module provide integration options for supported domain operations. Resellers should check the documentation and requirements for their intended extensions and workflows before offering a service to clients.

Flexible account funding also supports international customers and resellers. The NiceNIC Payment Options page lists PayPal, international bank transfers, and cryptocurrency payments including USDT, USDC, BTC, and ETH with a 0% NiceNIC processing fee. The online crypto provider currently charges a separate 1.5% service fee, and wallet or network fees may also apply. Review the total before confirming payment.

The conversations in Bali help us bring reseller needs into our continuing work with registry and industry teams. Clearer launch information, dependable escalation channels, and useful product guidance can all make a difference when a reseller is responsible for customers across multiple markets.

Our aim is to help partners build a domain business they can support over time, with a realistic understanding of both opportunities and operating costs.

Strengthening Security and Protecting Legitimate Domain Users

Domain security was another important part of NiceNIC’s ICANN87 engagement.

We were pleased to connect with NetBeacon Institute, Trusted Notifier Network, CleanDNS, ChainPatrol, Netcraft, and Doppel, alongside other people working to improve Internet safety and responsible abuse handling.

Our priorities include more accurate reporting, prompt responses to verified threats, clearer communication, and fair reviews based on the available evidence. These priorities matter to reporting organizations, domain holders, and resellers managing cases on behalf of clients.

A useful report should help the receiving team understand the activity involved and the evidence supporting the complaint. A responsible response should consider the nature of the threat and the potential effect on legitimate services.

For example, a business whose website has been compromised may need a different response from a domain created specifically for malicious activity. Understanding the circumstances helps determine an appropriate action.

NiceNIC's discussion with Trusted Notifier Network at ICANN87 explored the connection between reliable reporting, accountable handling, and protection for legitimate users.

Our public Domain Abuse Handling and Transparency guidance provides a reference for customers and reporting parties. Continued industry dialogue supports our work to improve these processes as threats and operating conditions change.

Keeping Brand Protection in the Conversation

NiceNIC founder May and CEO Helen also valued the opportunity to meet the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) team at ICANN87.

As businesses consider more domain extensions, they need to understand how naming opportunities relate to existing brands and trademark rights. Awareness of launch requirements and available protection mechanisms can help customers prepare earlier and ask better questions.

The Trademark Clearinghouse provides centralized trademark verification and services associated with Sunrise registration, Trademark Claims, and ongoing notifications. These services have distinct purposes and requirements; a verified trademark record does not automatically register a domain.

For NiceNIC and its resellers, the practical lesson is to make accurate information part of the customer conversation. Before committing to a particular launch, customers should confirm eligibility, supported registration procedures, deadlines, and applicable costs.

Bringing brand protection into the discussion helps customers make more informed decisions about the names they intend to use and maintain.

Thank You to ICANN, PANDI, and Everyone We Met

We extend our thanks to ICANN for bringing the global community together and to PANDI, the local host, for welcoming the industry to Bali.

An international meeting creates space for conversations that can be harder to arrange across countries and time zones. It offers opportunities to reconnect with established contacts, meet people working on related challenges, and better understand the priorities of other organizations.

We appreciated the openness of the teams we met and the practical insights they shared. Those exchanges gave us useful points to follow up on after returning from Bali.

To our registry contacts, domain industry colleagues, security specialists, and brand protection teams: thank you for your time and contribution to a memorable week.

Looking Ahead to ICANN88 in Lisbon

The next ICANN Public Meeting is the ICANN88 Community Forum in Lisbon, scheduled for March 13-18, 2027, at the Lisbon Congress Center in Portugal.

NiceNIC will not attend ICANN88 in person. We will continue following the discussions and developments relevant to our customers, resellers, and industry relationships.

We also plan to attend another ICANN meeting later in 2027. Further participation details will be shared once confirmed.

Our engagement continues between conferences through follow-up conversations, product planning, and day-to-day coordination with the organizations that help support domain services worldwide.

Goodbye, Bali. The Connections Continue.

With 20 years of domain industry experience, NiceNIC continues to develop relationships across the global domain community. Our ICANN-accredited registrar entity, NICENIC INTERNATIONAL GROUP CO., LIMITED, is listed under IANA Registrar ID 3765 in the IANA Registrar IDs registry.

Customers and partners can use the NiceNIC Trust Center to review registrar verification information, policies, and official support channels.

As we leave Bali, we take forward the friendships, insights, and practical questions that made ICANN87 valuable. The work now is to continue those conversations and pursue opportunities that fit our customers’ needs.

If you are planning a new domain project, expanding your portfolio, or exploring a reseller relationship, contact NiceNIC with the extensions, markets, or operational requirements you have in mind. Those details help us identify relevant options and explain the next steps.

Goodbye, Bali, and thank you for the memories.

To everyone we met: let’s stay connected.

NiceNIC - More Domain Choices. More Global Opportunities.
