.CA Domain Registration Requirements
.CA registrations must satisfy the Canadian Presence Requirements administered by CIRA. NiceNIC offers different registration information for individuals and for companies or organizations.
Individual registration
An eligible individual can register using their normal, accurate registrant contact details. NiceNIC does not routinely request an extra identity-document number or company number in the individual-registration route described here.
Canadian citizens who live outside Canada may still be eligible. Their current contact address and email should be accurate and accessible; residence outside Canada does not automatically remove a valid Canadian-presence basis.
Company or organization registration
For NiceNIC's company or organization route, prepare:
- Organization Name
- Company Number
- Registrant contact information with Canada as the country
The organization and company number must identify the actual holder of the domain.
Choosing the correct registrant
Individual and company registrations do not become eligible simply because their contact details are complete: the applicant must also have a valid Canadian-presence basis. Use the registrant type that matches the person or organization who will own the domain.
