.IS Domain Registration Requirements
People outside Iceland can register .IS domains through NiceNIC. However, an individual registering with Iceland as their registrant country must prepare a Kennitala, Iceland's national identification number.
When is a Kennitala required?
- Individual registrant in Iceland: provide a valid Kennitala and ordinary contact details.
- Individual registrant outside Iceland: the additional Kennitala requirement does not apply; provide your normal registrant details.
Do not substitute another person's Kennitala for the domain holder's.
Check your email after registration
ISNIC may send a contact-registration or verification message to the registrant email address. Complete any verification request within the time specified in that message so that domain management is not interrupted.
