Your next blog can start with an address that tells readers what to expect. From October 19 to November 30, 2026, NiceNIC is offering .BLOG domain registration for $2.99 for the first year.
NiceNIC is now a direct .BLOG registrar, working directly with the registry for .BLOG registrations. Whether you are starting a personal blog, publishing practical guides, or building an independent publication, this promotion offers a low first-year domain cost.
Check your .BLOG domain availability and review the price for your chosen name before ordering.
The advertised offer is for the first year of registration. Check renewal pricing separately, and do not assume that premium names carry the promotional price.
What Can You Build with a .BLOG Domain?
A .BLOG domain is a website address ending in “.blog”. It makes the publishing purpose of a project easy to recognize, whether the author is an individual or an organization.
It can be a useful fit for:
- A professional blog: Publish insights, explain your work, and give readers a place to find your articles beyond a social media feed.
- A focused resource: Build a collection of recipes, travel notes, technical tutorials, reviews, or other material around a subject you know.
- An independent publication: Give interviews, essays, or a newsletter archive a recognizable address, using a platform that supports custom domains.
You do not need a finished website before choosing a name. However, it helps to know what you plan to publish and which platform you will use before paying for additional services.
If you are still choosing an extension, read our .BLOG vs .COM comparison.
What Does the $2.99 Offer Cover?
The promotion runs from October 19 through November 30, 2026, with a $2.99 first-year registration price.
Before completing an order, check three things:
- The price of your exact name. Some .BLOG names have premium pricing. A short or desirable name may cost more than the advertised promotion.
- The renewal price. A first-year offer does not mean the domain renews at $2.99. Review the current renewal cost before choosing a name for a long-term project.
- The registration term. If you select more than one year, review the full total instead of multiplying the promotional price by the number of years.
Use the NiceNIC domain pricing page to check current pricing. If the renewal amount or promotion eligibility for your chosen domain is unclear, contact NiceNIC support before payment.
Domain registration and website hosting are separate purchases. The advertised domain price should not be treated as the total cost of launching a website. Budget separately for any hosting, website plan, or email service you choose.
Choose a Name You Will Still Want Next Year
The promotion lowers the initial cost, but the name should fit the project beyond the first year.
Start with your own name, your publication name, or a short phrase that describes your subject. Say it aloud: could someone spell the address after hearing it once?
Avoid adding several unnecessary words simply to find an available domain. Equally, avoid a narrow name if you expect to write about a broader subject later.
Before registering, check whether the name could be confused with an existing brand. Domain availability alone does not establish your right to use a name.
Choose a name you can comfortably renew, not only one you can afford today.
Can You Use a .BLOG Domain with WordPress?
Yes. A .BLOG domain can be connected to a WordPress website. You do not have to transfer the domain away from NiceNIC simply to use it with your website provider.
For WordPress.com, connecting a domain registered elsewhere requires a paid plan that supports custom domains. Follow the official WordPress.com domain connection guide for the settings your site needs.
For self-hosted WordPress, arrange hosting separately and follow your host’s instructions for connecting the domain.
Other publishing platforms may also support your .BLOG address. Check their custom-domain requirements and fees before choosing a plan.
If the domain already handles email, check the existing mail records before changing nameservers. A website connection should not accidentally interrupt your email.
How to Register and Connect Your .BLOG Domain
- Search your preferred name. Open the NiceNIC .BLOG registration page and check availability.
- Review the costs. Confirm the selected name, registration term, first-year total, and renewal pricing.
- Complete your registration. Enter accurate registration details and complete payment. Confirm that registration succeeded in your account.
- Connect your publishing platform. Follow its instructions to update the required DNS records or nameservers. DNS changes may take time to become visible.
- Check your site and renewal arrangements. Test the address, confirm HTTPS works with your website provider, and keep your account email and renewal reminders up to date.

Does a .BLOG Domain Help with SEO?
A .BLOG extension does not automatically improve Google rankings. Google has explained that keywords in a generic top-level domain do not provide a ranking advantage or disadvantage.
The benefit of .BLOG is the meaning it communicates to readers. Your search performance still depends on your website and its content, rather than the extension alone.
If you already have an established website, you do not need to move its articles to a new domain just because a promotion is available. Keep the existing address if it serves your readers well. A matching .BLOG could instead be considered for a separate publication or a properly configured redirect.
Why Register Through NiceNIC?
NiceNIC now offers .BLOG registrations as a direct registrar, alongside account tools for managing your domain and human support for domain-related questions.
You can keep the registration with NiceNIC while using a separate website provider. That lets you choose a publishing platform based on the features you need.
For agencies and service providers managing customer projects, the NiceNIC Domain API provides an integration option. Check the applicable pricing and supported operations before building your workflow.
